Knowing in detail how we are and how our people live is extremely important for the government and for society. The results obtained through the carrying out of the Demographic Census allow us to draw a comprehensive and faithful portrait of the country. The Demographic Census produces updated and accurate information, which is fundamental for the development and implementation of public policies and for carrying out investments, both by the government and by the private sector. In addition, a society that knows itself can efficiently carry out immediate actions and plan its future with security. Portraying Brazil, which is entering a new decade, is a challenge for the IBGE. What is the size of the Brazilian population? Under what conditions does it live? How is it distributed in the National Territory? What is the level of schooling of our children and young people? What are the employment and income conditions of the population?
