The Outpatient Information System (SIA) is part of DATASUS and was implemented nationwide in the 1990s with the purpose of registering the attendances/procedures/treatments performed in each health establishment in the outpatient scope, through the Outpatient Production Bulletin (BPA). Over the years, SIA has been improved to be effectively a system that generates information related to outpatient care and that can support state and municipal managers in monitoring the planning, programming, regulation, evaluation and control processes of health services in the outpatient area.
