Live Births (SINASC)

The available data comes from the Live Births Information System (SINASC) developed by the SUS Informatics Department (DATASUS). SINASC is managed by the Department of Health Situation Analysis, of the Health Surveillance Secretariat, in conjunction with the State and Municipal Health Secretariats. The Health Secretariats collect the Live Birth Declarations (DN) in health establishments and in the registry offices (for home births) and enter, into SINASC, the information contained therein. In general, the State Health Secretariats send their Database to the Ministry of Health, when they consider the collection complete. The Ministry of Health can only consider the National Database complete when all states have sent their data. From there, consolidation is carried out, including the redistribution of data by place of residence, which is the traditional way of presenting Live Birth data. Occasionally, some corrections are made to the information.
