Violence Atlas

Violence Atlas

Violence constitutes one of the biggest issues in public policies in Brazil. Overcoming the problem requires the production of analyses and diagnoses based on empirical evidence, so that effective preventive measures can be proposed. In this sense, to assist researchers, journalists and those interested in general in the theme of crime and violence, the Applied Economic Research Institute in partnership with the Brazilian Forum for Public Security has developed the present portal "Violence Atlas". The central philosophy that guided the construction of the "Violence Atlas" is practicality, where the user can easily access data from the Ministry of Health and Brazilian police, which are available for download, or can still be viewed in various formats, such as maps and graphs. The main page of the portal highlights 10 subtopics, where the user will find not only statistics, but numerous works produced by Ipea (and videos), over the 20 years in which this agenda has been studied at home.
